Edo election: Corps member dies in road accident

A National Youth Service Corps member (NYSC), identified as Ogunjobi Alexander Oluwaseun, scheduled to serve as polling officer in the Edo election has died, Leadership reports.

Oluwaseun who hails from Oshogbo in Osun state, was a passenger on a commercial bus involved in an accident on his way to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ubiaja (Benin-Auchi Rd.) on Monday, September 26.

Meanwhile, there was mild tension in Benin City, the Edo state capital on Tuesday afternoon when some soldiers were seen parading the streets ahead of the Wednesday, September 28 governorship election in the state.

According to our correspondent on ground in the Governor Adams Oshiomhole-led state, there was peace everywhere as most people went about their works without any fear, but the presence of the military men seemed to shake the indigenes.
